Stainless steel is a generic term for a family of corrosion resistant alloy steels containing 10.5% or more chromium. Stainless steels come in a number of grades and types which all share the characteristics of corrosion and temperature resistance, strength, ease of cleaning, long life and aesthetic appeal which make it an ideal choice for fixed rigging applications.

Nobles stainless steel rigging is limited mainly to 316 grade (sometimes known as Marine Grade) although there are some 304 grade products available. Grade 316 is considered a step up from 304 grade as it has virtually the same mechanical properties as 304 grade but has superior corrosion resistance. It resists ordinary rusting in a wide range of media ensuring the best possible life even in the most corrosive environments. Like other austenitic grades of stainless steel 316 grade is virtually non-magnetic in its annealed condition.

Nobles range of stainless steel fittings is designed to provide maximum flexibility, simplicity, ease of use, aesthetic appeal and high quality for rigging applications up to 8mm wire rope diameter. Nobles can also cater for the larger end of the market (above 8mm) but this generally requires more specialised design, engineering, fabrication and technical support and as such is beyond the scope of this website.

Maximum Flexibility is achieved by having an adequate range of fittings to choose from that will cater for virtually all basic architectural, marine and fixed rigging applications. Only highly specialised applications should require fittings beyond the standard range.

Aesthetic Appeal and High Quality is achieved with the washed and polished finish of the fittings themselves. Nobles stainless fittings are manufactured in modern facilities to exacting requirements by wax casting. Machining and drilling of fittings and threads is automated ensuring consistent high quality. Wire rope assemblies can be made in-house by Nobles as required. We have extensive experience in manufacturing wire rope assemblies and operate under a Quality System in accordance with AS NZS 9001.
